Skills of making Ak Kalpak included in UNESCO representative list

AKIPRESS.COM - Traditional skills and knowledge on manufacturing and wearing of the men's headgear Ak Kalpak were added to the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the press service of the Secretariat of the National Commission of Kyrgyzstan on UNESCO affairs said.
The decision was made at the 14th session of the intergovernmental committee on protection of intangible cultural heritage, which is being held in Columbia from December 9 to December 14.
The work on preparation of this initiative was carried out by the National Commission of Kyrgyzstan on UNESCO Affairs jointly with the Min Kyal public association within the past 3 years.
The application was filed to the UNESCO Secretariat in 2018. The final decision on nomination of the skills of making Ak Kalpak was taken by the UNESCO Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
