AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has ratified the agreement on a military cooperation with Turkey, the Akorda press service reported. The head of state signed the law on ratification of the given agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Turkey, the statement says.
According to the document, the two countries would promote cooperation in military training and education, joint exercises, cartography, hydrography, transit of military equipment and medical care based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, Xinhua reported.
The two sides would also cooperate in peacekeeping operations, military industries, as well as military scientific and technical research.
Mukhtar Kul-Muhammed, chairman of Kazakhstan's Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Security, said earlier that about 200 Kazakh military officers have received free training at NATO schools in Turkey by far. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Defense, 16 Turkish officers are currently studying in Kazakhsan's National University of Defense.
