AKIPRESS.COM - 13,963,627 voters cast their ballots during the parliamentary and local elections in Uzbekistan, representing 67.8 per cent of the total number of voters, including citizens living abroad, CEC chairman Mirzo Ulugbek Abdusalomov told a briefing in Tashkent. Previously, CEC said the voter turnout was 71.1%, which means the parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan were valid.
825 international observers from 10 international organizations and about 50 countries, 70,000 observers from political parties, as well as 1,155 local and foreign journalists participated in the electoral process.
Abdusalomov said the vote counting is under way. The preliminary results of the vote will be announced at 14:00 Tashkent time on December 23.
