AKIPRESS.COM - The National Humans Rights Center has drafted documents related to the human rights strategy. During the last 3 years more than 5,000 regulations were adopted in the country that are aimed to create regulatory framework for realization of personal, political, economic, social and cultural rights and freedoms of citizens.
Uzbekistan has not adopted the long-term human rights strategy so far. Its adoption will strengthen the process of building respectful attitude to human rights and freedoms, the National Human Rights Center said.
Experts and members of the UN Committee against Torture at the November session in Geneva challenged the declarations made by Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Human Rights Center of Uzbekistan. They said Uzbekistan still uses tortures, whereas restricted access to health care, forced labor and harsh conditions in penal institutions lead to injuries. The declared reforms do not support a prompt response of government monitoring services.
