AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyz cargo carriers have developed a new railroad route for the movement of goods from Turkey and back, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Transport of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Talant Matkerim uulu said. The first 40 containers from Turkey were delivered to Osh in accordance with the agreement with the Turkish company Arkas Logistic within the CASA project, he said.
Cargo from Turkey goes through Georgia to Azerbaijan by railroad first, then it is delivered to Turkmenistan by sea. Then the cargo is loaded into trains and transported to Osh through Uzbekistan by railroad bypassing Kazakhstan, he said.
"Kyrgyz cargo carriers were able to set a multimodal transportation of goods by various types of transport. Previously, we transported goods by road only, but because of problems with crossing the borders of CIS states due to COVID-19, entrepreneurs incurred losses. The new multimodal transportation not only eliminates the risk of cargo detention, but also allows increasing the volume of deliveries," he said.
