Turkmen President is on working visit to Lebap region

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with the activities of the Tebigy Ekin farm enterprise located in the velayat's Charjev district, particularly with the potato variety and its yield during his working visit to Lebap region, Turkmen media report. Rustem Byashimov, the head of the company, said Gala variety of potatoes were planted on 370 hectares of land in February this year, adding that the enterprise expects yield of 200 centner per hectare. The agricultural enterprise employs over 200 people.
The businessman said that this high-yielding variety of potatoes is adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the region.
Byashimov said two types of equipment are used in collection of the crops, one cuts the tops and the other removes tubers to the surface. The potatoes are then harvested by hand.
Excess crop from the total volume planned for delivery to the state is sold in the country's markets.
After completion of a working trip to Lebap region, Bedimuhamedov went to Mary region the same day.
