President Mirziyoyev holds virtual talks with EBRD President

AKIPRESS.COM - President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti held virtual talks on June 11, the Uzbek president's press service reported. Sir Suma Chakrabarti highly regarded the comprehensive actions taken in Uzbekistan to address the imact of the partial collapse of the Sardoba reservoir dam and containment of COVID-19.
Expansion of cooperation was in focus of discussions. A particular attention was paid to participation of EBRD in transformation of government-owned enterprises and privatization of banks, facilitation of reforms in energy, oil and gas sectors, expansion of financing of business, textile industry projects among them.
The agreement was reached to continue contacts and exchanges, including the joint preparation of the meeting of the Board of Foreign Investors in Tashkent and meeting of EBRD Board of Governors in Samarkand in 2023.
The portfolio of EBRD projects in Uzbekistan amounts around $1.2 billion and includes all priority spheres. The project proposals for around $1billion are being prepared by the sides.
