AKIPRESS.COM - Construction of a new house instead of the burnt one in the conflict between Kyrgyz and Tajik citizens in Kok-Tash village nears completion. The house of Esen Majitov was burned by Tajik side, reports Turmush. According to Abdraim Majitov, 82-year-old Esen's father, their house is at the border of two countries. The shots fired by Tajik side made family leave house for safety.
Their house with all the documents was burned shortly after.
The Kyrgyz government and local volunteers provided around 2 million soms for construction of the new house. The construction started on May 10.
"The border guards protect us now. Our new home is more modern. The support of locals and government inspired us, we decided to continue living at the border," Majitov family says.
According to builder Orozbek Gazybekov, 4 workers are constructing the new house. They'll end it in a week.
Batken district governor Kalan Markayev noted that the government will assist with restoration of new documents for the family.
78-year-old Shaari Majitova expressed gratitude to Kyrgyz citizens who helped them to rebuild the house.
The family has 4 sons and 4 daughters, 3 of them currently dead, 32 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.
The conflict between Kyrgyz and Tajik citizens happened in Kok-Tash village of Aksay in Batken region on May 8. One Kyrgyz villager used for 50 ares of disputed territory, where he planted crops. Tajik citizens of village Chorkuh expressed dissatisfaction.
As a result, around 60-80 Kyrgyz and Tajik citizens began throwing stones at each other. The shots were fired.
Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan regulated the conflict and held meetings to stabilize the situation.
Batken region governor Alisher Abdrahmanov and Sughd region governor Rajobboy Akhmadzoda held talks. The governors discussed peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Vice PM of Kyrgyzstan Akram Madumarov held phone talks with Vice PM of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim. They noted inadmissibility of use of firearms and spoke for adoption of immediate measures to prevent further escalation of the situation.
