AKIPRESS.COM - Rehablitation of Madaniyat-Jalal-Abad road resumed in Bazar-Korgon district of Jalal-Abad region, Turmush reported.
A 20-km road section between Suzak and Bazar-Korgon districts will be covered with asphalt before the end of the year.
The Eurasian Development Bank allocated $60 million for construction of 67-km-long Madaniyat-Jalal-Abad road section as part of rehabilitation of Bishkek-Osh road.
The contract was awarded to Azerbaijan's AzVirt company.
Construction of the road is due by 2022.
Transport Ministry's representative Akjol Begaliev said the roadbed will be 59 cm thick. Two layers of gravel 22 cm wide each will be followed by two asphalt layers. The first asphalt layer will be 9 cm thick, the second 6 cm thick.
"This means the road will meet international requirments. It will be category II road," Begaliev said.
40 km of walkway strips, 20 km of irrigation networks will be built, road lighting will be installed on 32 km of the road. 36,000 tree saplings will be planted on the road-sides," he said.
Company representative Sadaat Bagirov said due to delays in financing and quarantine, the work was stopped, but now the process resumed in compliance with sanitary norms. Most of workers are locals, he said.
Over 1,000 power poles and 22 transformers will be relocated during enlargement of the road. 58 additional power poles will be installed and 111 poles will be replaced.
In addition to construction of the road, 5 bridges, parking lots near markets, pavements, 165 bus stops in settlements will be built.
