President Jeenbekov promises all possible support to medical workers during visit to Cholpon-Ata hospital

AKIPRESS.COM - President Sooronbai Jeenbekov today visited the infectious diseases department of Issyk-Kul district hospital in Cholpon-Ata, where reconstruction is carried out now.
Built in 1986, the infectious diseases department of Cholpon-Ata hospital did not have major repair. Only one part of the building for 15 beds is used now. Upon rehabilitation, the capacity of the department will be increased to 100 beds.
The President met with hospital workers. He offered condolences over death of chief of intensive care unit of the hospital Sarbagysh Imanaliev.
Medical workers supported the President's initiative to build hospitals, but also noted a problem of shorage of medical workers. They said it is hard to retain young specialists without financial and moral support.
The President agreed with medical workers and said the coronavirus pandemic demonstrated all weak places in the national healthcare system, which became the result of the many years of incompetent management of healthcare system and devastating reforms.
The ongoing digitalization of all sectors of the country will allow to legallize money from the shadow economy, he said.
"These funds will be spent for increase of salaries for medical workers, teachers. Last year, salaries were increased, but I understand this is not enough. How can we demand anything from medical workers when they are paid just 5,000 soms? This problem always worries me, but we will make all we can so that our medical workers receive both financial and moral support from the state," the President promised.
The Security Council analyzed the problems impeding development of the healthcare system at the beginning of the year, but their consideration was postponed due to coronavirus outbreak, the President said.
The President promised healthcare system issues will be discussed at the meeting of the Security Council upon improvement of the epidemiological situation in order to make concrete decisions to resolve existing problems.
