Jeenbekov congratulates Lukashenko with re-election

AKIPRESS.COM - President Sooronbai Jeenbekov congratulated President Alexander Lukashenko with his re-election, the president's press service reported.
"I am convinced your rich experience and professionalism will further help improvement of well-being of people, will ensure a high level of political and economic development of the country. I am confident the Kyrgyz-Belarusian relations built upon long traditions of friendship and mutual respect and cooperation will further develop and strengthen for the benefit of our nations," Jeenbekov said.
Protests broke out overnight in the capital, Minsk, and other cities, ahead of preliminary results announced on Monday, which showed longtime President Alexander Lukashenko had won 80 per cent of the vote, thus securing a sixth term in office.
