Uzgen court sentences parents to one-year probation for marrying their underage daughter off

AKIPRESS.COM - The Uzgen district court sentenced the couple to a year of probation for marrying their minor daughter off early, the General Prosecutor's Office reported.
In October 2019, an investigator of the Uzgen district police department reported that a woman N.K. and her husband M.T. married their teenage daughter off. The fact was registered in the registry of crimes and offenses as violation of the law on marriage age for religious rituals.
On January 10, 2020, the parents, bridegroom and others were found guilty and handed 3 years in prison. However, the court released them and ruled one-year probation instead.
