Sadyr Japarov suggests constitutional reform, new presidential and parliamentary elections in 2-3 months

AKIPRESS.COM - The Constitution of Kyrgyzstan will be changed within 2 months, a new system will be established, Sadyr Japarov said on KTRK channel last night.
He said the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan approved him as Prime Minister in the evening of October 6 and the legitimate power was established in the country [Speaker Abdyldayev explained Japarov was just nominated for the Prime Minister].
Japarov named constitutional reform as the main point of his program.
"There is program, but I did not have time to present it to lawmakers due to protesters. I will announce the steps on change of the system soon, in 10-15 days. There is a draft. We will consider it at the constitutional meeting and will bring it up for public discussion," he said.
Japarov did not elaborate on details of proposed changes in the Constitution, he just mentioned the idea of use of kurultay [assembly] system.
"In case of adoption of a new Constitution, presidential and parliamentary elections will be held. This will happen in 2-3 months," he said.
The Parliament, government agencies will work until that time without changes. The Parliament will continue performing functions until election of new MPs, he said.
The number of ministries and agencies will be cut after change of the Constitution.
Japarov also questioned effectiveness of coordination council established yesterday. He said they repeat mistakes of the interim government of 2010.
