AKIPRESS.COM - The head of coordination office for the presidential elections, Deputy Prime Minister Maksat Mamytkanov commented on the information about failed trip of presidential candidate Adakhan Madumarov to Issyk-Kul region.
Adakhan Madumarov said he planned to carry out campaigning activities in Issyk-Kul region, but members of his campaign team received threats. "If you do not campaign for one candidate [Sadyr Japarov's home region is Issyk-Kul region], we will burn your houses," Madumarov cited the theats addressed to his supporters.
Maksat Mamytkanov in turn said he asked the region administration about that.
"They said there were no any obstacles. He has not come there. If he wants to visit Issyk-Kul region, he is free do to so. He should inform in advance, he will be met there," Mamytkanov said.
"The Central Election Commission sent a commission to the region to investigate the case. Equal conditions should be created for all candidates. If there are some threats, we will ensure safety," he said.
"I am ready to accompany him if the situation is that dangerous," the Deputy Prime Minister told reporters in Karakol.
The Central Election Commission said it informed the General Prosecutor's Office and the Interior Ministry about the incident.
The coordination group of rapid respose of the Central Election Commission received information on December 17 about obstacles to campaigning activities in Issyk-Kul region for presidential Adakhan Madumarov.
"Candidate Madumarov said on KTRK channel that members of his campaign team in Issyk-Kul region received threats from unknown people," the Central Election Commission said.
