Ex-President Sooronbai Jeenbekov leaves for Saudi Arabia at King's invitation

AKIPRESS.COM - Ex-President Sooronbai Jeenbekov left Kyrgyzstan. This information was confirmed by ex-President's press secretary Tolgonai Stamalieva. She said Sooronbai Jeenbekov departed for Mecca for Umrah pilgrimage.
"He has departed for Istanbul with his spouse this morning. They will travel further to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia," she said.
"Jeenbekov is making this trip at invitation of the Saudi King. The trip was planned since November 2020, but since the entry was restricted for pilgrims due to coronavirus pandemic, it was necessary to obtain the official invitiation," she said.
According to Stamalieva, the official invitation arrived at the beginning of February 2021.
The Umrah hajj will last more than 10 days. Jeenbekov will return to Bishkek then, Stamalieva concluded.
