AKIPRESS.COM - Parents of school students and preschool children rallied outside Bishkek mayor's office today asking the local authorities when public schools and kindergartens will resume offline classes.
"We do not hold protest action, we ask to reopen public schools and kindergartens," parents said.
Parents said they want to get a clear answer from the mayor's office if schools and kindergartens will be reopened or not.
"If they tell us there is no money in the budget for reopening, we will understand that," they said.
"But look at what is going on in the city: night bars, clubs, shopping centers, indoor children's playgrounds, public transport are all full. But schools and kindergartens remain closed," they said.
"We came here to defend rights of our children. They have right to education," parents said.
Vice mayor Aijan Chynybaeva and vice chief sanitary inspector Ainagul Ryskulbekova met with parents and outlined the current epidemiological situation.
The vice mayor said reopening of schools was planned for February 1, but then several coronavirus cases were confirmed among school students, who contracted coronavirus infection at home and then transmitted infection to their classmates. Such cases were registered in 3 schools of Bishkek.
Parents said they are ready to sign documents saying they take responsibility for health of their children in case offline classes are resumed in all schools of the capital.
