Lawmakers lay flowers in memory of Aksy tragedy victims

AKIPRESS.COM - Members of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan led by Parliament Speaker Talant Mamytov paid tribute to those who died in Aksy tragedy in March 2002, the parliament's press service reported.
The lawmakers laid flowers at the monument in honor of those who died in Aksy tragede and April 2010 events at Ala-Too central square.
After the local representative in parliament, Azimbek Beknazarov, was detained on power abuse charges, several thousand people gathered on March 17, 2002 in Aksy to protest his detention. Demonstrators threw stones at police forces. The police fired shots into the crowd, killing four people. Another person was killed the next day, another man died of injuries he received during the clashes.
