Supporters of former Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov gathered outside court in Bishkek

AKIPRESS.COM - Supporters of former Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov gathered outside the Pervomaisky district court building in Bishkek in anticipation of court's ruling on his detention.
The court is hearing two motions: checking the legality of the suspect's detention and selection of form of arrest. These petitions will be considered separately.
Babanov was detained on May 31 within the criminal investigation into corruption at different stages of the Kumtor development project.
He is suspected of corruption. After interrogation in the State National Security Committee, he was detained and taken to the temporary detention facility.
