AKIPRESS.COM - Global agriculture production has to be increased by 60-70 percent from the current levels to meet the increased food demand of 9.7bn world population in 2050, said FAO Representative in Kyrgyzstan Adnan Quereshi at the food system summit in Bishkek on June 14.
The growth of the world's population will not be even, he noted.
According to the FAO, only 10% of young people in Kyrgyzstan want to engage in agricultural profession.
Agricultural production can be increased in three ways: expansion of irrigated land, increasing crop yields through use of advanced irrigation technologies, development of new varieties with higher yields.
