President Mirziyoyev launches construction of New Andijan city

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the cornerstone laying ceremony at the site of construction of New Andijan city on June 17, the president's press service reported. Apartment buildings with over 130,000 apartments where more than 450,000 people will live will be built there, President Mirziyoyev said.
The total area of the city will make 4,000 ha. Apartment buildigns will occupy 2,000 ha. The city will also have social facilities, industrial zones, service centers, green zones.
The project of a new city will be carried out in 8 stages during 2021-2041.
Some $100 million will be allocated from the Reconstruction and Development Fund for construction of infrasctuture at the initial stage of the project. 33 km of water supply networks, 52 km of roads, 18 km of power transmission networks, 27 km of gas pipelines will be built.
170 apartment buildings with 3,310 aparments, a school, kindergarten, outpatient facility will be built at the first stage of the project.
More than 10,000 work places will be crated during construction and around 100,000 jobs will be created in industrial trade, social and service sectors of the city upon its construction.
