AKIPRESS.COM - Interior Ministry of Kyrgyzstan revealed some details of the probe into illegal freeing of crime boss Aziz Batukayev from prison with fake leukemia diagnosis.
Employees of the Ministry of Health diagnosed Batukayev with acute myeloblastic leukemia (M2-variant) with the purpose of his illegal release from prison, which happened based on their diagnosis, the statement said.
On April 23, 2013, the expert medical group created by the decision of the Kyrgyz parliamentary commission found that the leukemia diagnosis of Batukayev was fake.
3 former employees of the Kyrgyz Scientific Center for Hematology under the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan were charged with complicity in corruption and forgery, and 2 of them were detained, the statement said.
On August 3, 2006, Batukayev was sentenced to 16.8 years in prison for his role in the murder of MP Tynychbek Akmatbayev, Chief of State Penitentiary Service Ikmatulla Polotov, 2 workers of the Parliament in October 2005 during mass disorders in the penal colony in Moldovanovka village.
Batukayev served a half of his term with 8.3 years term remaining when he was released from prison by the decision of Naryn district court of April 9, 2013, over leukemia diagnosis. The same day Batukayev fled Kyrgyzstan on a private plane. He was declared internationally wanted on May 6, 2014.
