Bishkek, May 24, 2019 /Kabar/. A ceremony of signing a memorandum between the Bishkek Mayor's Office and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the implementation of the Green Cities program is held in the Kyrgyz capital city, the Mayor's Office press service reported.
Aziz Surakmatov, the Mayor of Bishkek and Alan Pillow, the Vice President of the EBRD signed the document.
During the signing ceremony, the mayor spoke about the joint projects carried out in the capital today and thanked for the provided support.
The purpose of the memorandum is to promote cooperation in order to assess and prioritize environmental problems and to develop an action plan to address these problems through strategic measures and investments in sustainable infrastructure. Also the identification of projects within the Green Cities framework, which provides a systematic and comprehensive approach to addressing climate change and environmental issues in urban planning and sustainable infrastructure investments.
Development of public transport in Bishkek, which involves the purchase of buses, will be the first implemented project.
Bruno Balvanera, the Managing Director of Central Asia, EBRD, Neil McKein, the Director for Central Asia, EBRD, Taalay Asylbekov, the Deputy Director, Senior department banker, Muzaffar Narbayev, the Associate banker, EBRD and Altynay Nanayeva, the Monitoring donor contributions junior officer, Almaz Baketayev, the First Deputy Mayor of Bishkek, Ryspek Sarpashov, the Deputy Mayor of Bishkek, Balbak Tulobayev, the Municipal chief of stuff also took part in signing ceremony.
