Bishkek, Sept.2, 2019. /Kabar/. Seven children with disabilities from auxiliary boarding schools in Dmitriyevka and Krasnaya Rechka began to study in general education schools, Childs Rights Defenders League Public Foundation Head Nazgul Turdubekova said.
According to her data, the kids are reunited with their parents. Previously, these children had lived in residential institutions in isolation from their families, which had a negative impact on their mental and physical development.
The transfer of children with disabilities from boarding schools and orphanages is part of the implementation of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov’s recommendations. The project is aimed at reforming orphanages and boarding schools and implementing the Programme for the Development of Inclusive Education, developed by the Ministry of Education and Science.
"Only in a family environment will children with disabilities be able to receive support from their parents for their full development. Reforming orphanages and boarding schools in favor of children should go on uninterruptedly," Turdubekova said.
It is planned that during two years more than 200 children from secondary boarding schools will be reunited with their families within the framework of the Creation of a favorable family environment for children of the Kyrgyz Republic project, implemented by the Childs Rights Defenders League Foundation, Partnership for Every Child (Moldova) Public Association with the support of the European Union.
