Koi-Tash case materials sent to court

AKIPRESS.COM - The case materials on events in Koi-Tash of Aug 7-8b were submitted to the Pervomay district court, the General Prosecutor's Office said.
Deputy Chairman of the SDPK party Kunduz Joldubayeva said the persons, including her, involved in the case were formally indicted by the General Prosecutor's Office: Almazbek Atambayev, Farid Niyazov, Ravshan Jeenbekov, Irina Karamushkina, Asel Koduranova, Kanat Sagymbayev, Meerbek Miskenbayev, Farhat Baabiyev, Kanat Osmonaliev, Karypbek uulu Ryspek, Marat Shamanov, Kaparbek uulu Nooruz, and Asangeldy Kakebayev.
They are suspected of coup attempt, hostage taking, mass riots, murder, murder attempt, resistance to authorities, obstruction to investigation, illegal arms bearing, etc.
Criminal probes against 5 more persons involved in this case were separated into separate proceedings after they plea-bargained with the investigation authorities, the statement said.
The Koi-Tash events saw storming of ex-President Almazbek Atambayev's residence to detain him. The first storming by SWAT soldiers on August 7, 2019 left dozens injured and 1 national security task force officer dead. 6 SWAT soldiers were taken hostage and released the next day. The second storming by Interior Ministry police on August 8, 2019 ended with Atambayev's arrest.
