AKIPRESS.COM - MP Natalia Nikitenko has recently raised the question of house of first mayor of Bishkek Ilya Terentiev that it fell apart and turned into a place where homeless people hang out.
"The house has fallen apart and nobody cares about it," Nikitenko said calling for actions.
Terentiev was born in 1848 in Russia and moved to Bishkek (then Pishpek) in late 19th century with his family. In 1895, he was elected the head of the simplified city government consisting of a 15-person council.
In his first year of chairmanship, Terentiev organized public New Year celebration, built the first hospital for 7 patients and opened the first drug store.
He took an active part in the landscaping of Bishkek, opened the first fair and the first bank called "small loan society". He conducted the first population census.
In 1897, 6,615 people lived in Pishpek. Private forge shops, bakeries and merchants' shops were opened.
